Nerja is situated in the easternmost part of Axarquía, 50 kilometres from Málaga and on the border of the province of Granada. It is a maritime and agricultural town with Arab roots and its name is derived from the Arabic "Naricha", (Abundant Spring), and enjoys a privileged climate and breathtaking local scenery where you can see both spectacular cliffs and also beaches of golden sand. Its gastronomy is typically Meditarranean with stand-out plates such as deep fried cod in batter with honey of sugar cane, the "migas" a typical dish made of corn meal and, of course, fresh fish from the area.

The Caves of Nerja are a series of caverns close to the town of Nerja in Andalusia. Stretching for almost 5 km the caverns are one of Spain's major tourist attractions. Concerts are regularly held in one of the chambers which forms a natural amphitheatre. VISIT 360º
